Japanese mortise chisel set (Oire Nomi) made of 'White paper' steel. 5-piece set of laminated steel with a red oak handle. Hand-forged by master blacksmith Murakuni .

These professional Japanese mortise chisels are made in two parts. A softer part that fits into the oak handle and a harder cutting part at the bottom. The softer part is somewhat flexible and absorbs impacts. The harder cutting part ensures a perfect edge. The chisels are forged with Hitachi's special 'White Paper' steel, which is ideally suited for mortise chisels and knives.

The chisels feature a hollow back. This hollow back makes sharpening (honing) easier. The striking ring on the back of the chisels significantly extends the lifespan of the handles and is easy to fix onto the handle.
